All of the products we carry at Married Dance are ones we’d use ourselves or recommend to our friends and fellow Christians. As a husband-and-wife team, we research and sometimes personally test the products we sell, evaluating each for quality, safety, and effectiveness. We also select only products that align with Christian values and enhance sexual satisfaction during foreplay or intercourse between husband and wife.
Below is a detailed breakdown of the factors we consider when choosing a new product.
What Is It Designed to Do?
Does the primary function of this product enhance foreplay or intercourse?
The most important characteristic we consider is whether a product enhances foreplay or intercourse. It must benefit one or both spouses without cheapening sex.
Is it Christian-Friendly?
Does the product packaging contain nudity or promote non-Christian activities?
We verify that product packaging doesn’t show breasts, penises, or vaginas, and doesn’t include messaging that goes against Christian values.
Some packaging, particularly for male toys, labels the product as a ‘masturbator.’ This is common in the category, and while the messaging conflicts with our values, we sometimes carry these products anyway because they can be used together by spouses.
Some packaging, such as pasties or stockings, includes images of the product being worn. If a product has this type of imagery on its packaging, we’ll give you a heads-up in the product’s description.
Was it made to resemble another person or make you think of someone other than your spouse while using it?
Products such as male strokers or dildos molded to resemble real people are not carried in our store. Neither are devices designed to be used in sync with pornographic content.
Effectiveness
Does the product perform as described?
When researching a new product, we look at online reviews and often try the product ourselves to make sure it works as designed and to better describe it for you.
What happens if a product develops issues?
Occasionally, a manufacturer will alter the design or manufacturing process of an existing product, resulting in a defect. When we receive recurring complaints about a product issue, we pull it from our inventory until the issue is resolved, or permanently remove it if it isn’t addressed.
Safety and Quality
Is the product made using safe, high-quality materials?
We only choose products made with body-safe, phthalate-free, and BPA-free materials, such as silicone, ABS plastic, glass, metal, or thermoplastic rubber. For lubricants, we avoid formulas containing parabens or nonoxynol-9, and when a manufacturer specifies that a product is latex-free, we include that in the product description.
Price and Value
Does the product provide value appropriate to its price?
The amount couples are willing or able to spend on intimacy products varies significantly. We try to maintain a diverse selection of price points to fit different budgets, while making sure every product we carry offers good value, whether it’s a $3 penis ring or a $230 vibrator.
Ethical Manufacturer
Was this product made using unethical labor practices?
Before carrying products from a manufacturer we haven’t worked with before, we research their labor practices, screening for child labor, exploitative working conditions, and direct ties to the porn industry.
